1st MRI-PAGES Workshop on Regional Climate Dynamics
9-12 June 2011, Suceava, Romania
Prof. Marcel Mindrescu, Department of Geography, University of Suceava, Romania, who participated in last years’ SEEmore Conference in Timisoara, Romania (26-29 August 2010) turned his vision into practice and organized a first workshop on “Regional Climate Dynamics” (Suceava, 9-12 June 2011) with the support of the Past Global Changes Office (PAGES) and the MRI. Devoted to “Climate Change in the Carpathian-Balkan Region during the Late Pleistocene and Holocene” the workshop attracted more than 50 scientists from and outside the region who discussed opportunities for collaboration on topics such as glaciations, paleolimnology, vegetation history, speleothemes, dendrochronology, geoarcheology, paleo rivers, and paleo soils.
Having attracted a great number of highly qualified and also motivated researchers from the Carpathian and Balkan mountains, the event serves as a suitable nucleus for further cooperation and will keep close ties with the MRI network.
If you are a paleo researchers working in the Balkan mountains and interested in future activities, please get in touch with Marcel Mindrescu (marcel.mindrescu@gmail.com)
