South Eastern European Mountain Research Network: Networking and strategy conference. 26-29 August 2010, Timisoara, Romania. News: expectations, presentations, summary and roadmap of the conference now online!
West University of Timisoara, Department of Geography and the European Program of the Mountain Research Initiative conducted an international conference on global change in the mountain regions of South Eastern Europe. About forty participants produced a “Catalogue of Research Summaries”, elaborated twenty-one priority topics for future research activities within five themes with high relevance to the mountains of the SEE region: Tourism, Institutions, Mining, Climate Change Adaptation and Paleaoscience.
The meeting concluded with an agreed road map with communication, networking and project development activities to be pursued in the course of the next 2 years. This road map aims at the further establishment of the “South Eastern European Mountain Research Network” (SEEmore) in the region, the development of high-quality research proposals for interdisciplinary projects, and enhanced access to regional research expertise and results.
