2012-02-27, MRI Key Contact Workshop prior to the AAG Annual Meeting 2012: CANCELLED

THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELLED

The Mountain Research Initiative and the Mountain Geography
Specialty Group (MGSG) of the American Association of Geographers will host a Mountain Key Contact Workshop on Monday, 27 February 2012 during the AAG Annual Meeting in New York.

We invite you to participate in the workshop, which will be held at the Bowery Hotel on the Lower East Side of Manhattan. This day-long workshop brings together researchers working on global change in mountain regions to present the future direction of their research programs and to receive in-depth review and comments from colleagues.

The KCW format allows each participant the opportunity to present his or her research plans to a small group of fellow global change researchers. Members of the group discuss the research program of the presenter and the cycle repeats so that over the course of the day each participant has the opportunity to summarize his or her research plans and participate in multi-disciplinary discussion of those plans.

We strive for wide disciplinary participation and reorganize the groups through the day to maximize interdisciplinary thinking. Experience has shown that bringing together researchers with widely varying disciplinary perspectives in MRI KCW's can be very effective. To see who participated in a recent MRI KCW and what the participants said about it, see the Ávila KCW page on the MRI website.

MRI and the MGSG will underwrite the workshop so that participants need pay only $20 for the workshop's hot buffet lunch. MRI will offer a free post-workshop apèro. You wouldn't find a better deal in New York!

If you wish to participate in this workshop, please notify MRI of your interest as soon as possible. We then will send you more workshop-specific information.

We look forward to seeing you in New York!
