MRI Africa
The Global Change Research Network in African Mountains (GCRN_AM)has been launched at the Kampala Workshop in July 2007 (see under "Events" below).
Its aim is to connect and support global change researchers working in different mountain regions on the African continent.

Objectives
- Promote research on global change in African mountains
- Address the need of African mountain researchers to join hands, efforts, resources and experiences, and create synergies between research and on-going local, regional and global initiatives
- Support data sharing by means of conferences and workshops, mailings, and database access
- Provide scientific based information to stakeholders and policy makers
- Influence policy and decision-making to improve livelihood and environment of African Mountains/HighlandsEstablish a transboundary network of global change research sites
